Dragon Variation

Named for the dragon-like pawn structure. Very sharp with opposite-side castling.

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 - See Open Sicilian.

5...g6 - The Dragon! Black fianchettoes the bishop, controlling the long diagonal.

White's plans: Yugoslav Attack with Be3, f3, Qd2, O-O-O, Bh6. Extremely sharp.

Black's plans: Castle kingside, play ...Nc6 and ...d5 breaks. Counter-attack on the queenside.
